Fun Fact #1: What is the Oldest Reference to Israel Outside the Bible?

In the brief video below, Dr. Jacob Wright, Associate Professor of Hebrew Bible at Emory University, provides a helpful explanation on the first (undisputed) extant mention of Israel outside the biblical texts.  It appears on the Egyptian Merneptah Stele dated to approximately 1200 B.C.E. However, another reference to Israel might occur as early as 1400 B.C.E. on an Egyptian statue pedestal. The damage to the material has prevented the reading of parts of the pedestal, thus, the conclusions are based on a plausible reconstruction.
